Quame Sarkodie had been the last born to Teacher Asumadu and Maame Ama Nyarko, born on May 20th, in Apaah (Ashanti Region). While studying Fashion Designing at School of Applied Arts (T. Poly) aged 18, he was introduced to cutting and designing. Using his mum’s sewing machine after lecture, he started designing most especially to Lecturers on Campus and also selling to his fellow students. The encouragements and support from friends and family made him stand on his grind and realized he can do better. He was a member of Committee in charge of Exhibitions and served as the Deputy P.R.O of the Students Representative Council. Quame, upon his innumerous contribution to the school was giving the mandate to head the fashion students of the faculty. He participated in a National tertiary fashion show dubbed ‘Inter-Polytechnic Fashion Show Competition’ along-side exhibitions that were organized by the Polytechnic. In 2011, Quame staged his first catwalk presentation during Faculty’s Technique Style.
As an up and coming fashion designer, He is constantly aware of the great responsibility that the role involves. Quame Sarkodie of Fashion Abattoir (ksi.gh) cut and sews various types of couture garments. He developed passion for creative expression at a very tender age with a love of barbering, painting and modernizing ready-made clothes and the combination of T-shirts and African prints into something interesting which every eye liked it. But it is fashion category that allows him to use his skill and enthusiasm to the full. ‘‘BETTER I SAY, IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH, FOR THE BEST IS YET TO COME, ONLY IF YOU MAKE GOD YOUR FIRST PRIORITY’’
